Why Horror Games Often Feel More Intimate Than Other Genres
6 hours ago by Sarah Armstrong
There’s something oddly personal about playing a horror games alone.
Not just because the room is quiet, or because the screen glows a little brighter in the dark. It’s the way the game seems to narrow your attention until it feels like the world has shrunk to a single corridor, a single door, a single sound somewhere in the distance.
Other genres often make you feel powerful. Fast. Capable.
Horror games do the opposite.
They slow you down and ask you to pay attention.
And in that slow attention, something unusual happens: the experience begins to feel intimate.
