I’ve been thinking a lot about how past mistakes are weighed during recruitment. A few years back I had a minor issue that’s long since resolved, but it still pops into my head whenever a role mentions background checks. It’s frustrating because it has nothing to do with my current skills or work ethic. Do employers really gain a clearer picture of a person this way, or does it just scare good candidates off Don’t Let an Employment Background Check Kill Your Dream Job? I’d genuinely like to hear how others see this, especially from a UK perspective.
